INSTRUCTIONS
TASK 3 - DESIGN
After analysing the design of our choice in Task 2, we will now produce a work of design, inspired/influenced by the one we had analysed, or as a reaction to it. We should also apply our knowledge of design principles in our creation. We may use any medium and/or materials that are suitable to convey our visual message. Direct use of photographs is not permitted. Any work that is found plagiarised will result in an F grade for the overall module and the student will be subjected to the policies of the University concerning academic misconduct.
The blog must contain all the work done and completed for this module, along with a final reflection.

Rationale
For this task, I chose a brightly colored painting as the object of analysis. The use of lines and colors in the artwork left a deep impression on me, so I decided to use it as inspiration to create a piece about mutated marine creatures. Ocean pollution has led to the proliferation of jellyfish and mutations in marine life. The massive proliferation of mutated jellyfish affects the living space of other marine creatures, leading to disruption of the marine ecosystem.
In my design, I used digital drawing software (Procreate) as the medium. Inspired by the original artwork's use of lines and colors, I attempted similar combinations of lines and colors in my design. I used a large number of repetitive lines to draw jellyfish with similar shapes on the canvas to highlight the focal point of the artwork and enhance visual effects. Through the contrast of bright colors and repetitive jellyfish, I aimed to direct the audience's attention and immerse them in the atmosphere of the artwork.
Throughout the creative process, I strived to adhere to design principles, particularly balance, repetition, harmony, and unity. I aimed to create symmetrical balance in the artwork and to link different elements to each other, forming a cohesive and interesting whole.
Feedback
Lecturer's Feedback Week 5: There are similar things which is a mermaid with a fishing net. I can play a lot of things with jellyfish. I can make polluted sea water which is water with weird color. Mutations of jellyfish is also interesting. Jellyfish can have a composition with other creatures cause of the polluted water. The jellyfish also can have weird colors or weird things inside. Crowded jellyfish with Barbie-style words inside is also acceptable. The jellyfish can be spiral in the artwork and the other things surrounding them.
Lecturer's Feedback Week 6:The theme is about mutation. The main thing I want to show is lack of clarity as other mutated creatures are more detailed than the jellyfish. Just use gradient blue for the ocean as the mutated creatures are enough to show the pollution. Don't need to add words, can add words like "enjoy the ocean" if we want. The thinking process in design principles can be shown in this work. There are some ideas to show the main creature is jellyfish. We can use the flow to lead viewers' sight to the focus of our project.
Lecturer's Feedback Week 7: Adjust the head of the octopus and add more tentacles. The tentacles should grab the fish tightly. Can have more experimental artwork such as a black and white background.
