MAJOR PROJECT 1
TASK 3: CONCEPT PRESENTATION
TASK 3 INSTRUCTIONS
- Problem
My character always falls from the stairs. Sometimes also stuck while walking on the stairs.
Solution
I put cubes under the stairs and checked the collision. I also adjust the step height setting in Character Blueprint to avoid falling from the stairs. Adjust the height of the cubes to be similar so that the character won't stuck while walking on the stairs. - Problem
Characters always go through the door. Can't open the doors.
Solution
Add box collision to the door. Use event beginplay in blueprint to check whether the logics are correct. - Problem
The room size is too small.
Solution
Adjust the size of the floorplan and check it using Third Person Gameplay View before blocking the house.
Week 7: Still need to put in more effort.
Due to limited time, I could only focus on completing the assignment requirements as much as possible. Some missing elements will be addressed later during the semester break, when I will work with my team to refine and improve our design. Our goal is to make the project as polished as possible.
During testing, I encountered several challenges, but I actively sought solutions by consulting ChatGPT and searching for tutorials on YouTube. Problem-solving has been an essential part of this process, helping me gain a better understanding of game development and troubleshooting techniques.
One issue we faced was that a video demonstrating door interactions and the actual scale of the game environment in Unreal Engine was mistakenly deleted by a teammate. As a result, we were unable to showcase it during Task 3’s presentation. However, after the presentation, I made sure to reinsert the video into the slides, ensuring that our work was properly documented.
This experience has reinforced the importance of time management, problem-solving, and proper file management in teamwork. Moving forward, I aim to improve my workflow efficiency and ensure that our team’s work is well-organized for future tasks.
