MIRO BOARD

ENVIRONMENT DESIGN
REFERENCES
Fig 1.1 Exterior and Interior

I want to create a house with a corridor to enhance the horror atmosphere. However, since I'm unsure about the best placement that won't affect movement, I looked for references.

SKETCHES
I planned to design a western-style house. Although it's a haunted house, the furniture cannot be too weird as the brother is still living here.

SOMETHINGS THAT WILL HAPPENED IN THE HOUSE

Something weird is happening in the house. I will try whether it can be rendered in UE later.

AMBIANCE & LIGHTINGS
I used blue-green as the ambiance, and we will later use a blue tone as the rendering style to create a sense of oppression. I have roughly sketched the lighting effects inside the house and will later create more detailed and complete illustrations and then testing in Unreal Engine.

PROPS
Players need to complete certain tasks and mini-games before they can obtain clues.

TASK 2 FINAL PRESENTATION SLIDES

FEEDBACK

Week 4: The environment design needs to be more stylized. Can model and move the camera to get different scenes.

Week 5: Do some testing in different software.

Week 6: Maybe reduce the particles so that the fire won't look like that.

REFLECTION

Due to limited time, I was only able to sketch the environment for now. However, I plan to complete detailed illustrations and props later to refine the scene.

In Unreal Engine, I tested some basic interaction mechanics, such as opening doors. Since I am not very familiar with the software, this process took me quite a long time. Initially, I used line trace for door interactions, but I found it difficult to aim accurately. To improve usability, I am currently experimenting with dot widgets, which are commonly used in games for interaction.

When facing technical challenges, I sought help from ChatGPT and looked up tutorials on YouTube. This experience reinforced the importance of problem-solving and continuous learning in game development. Moving forward, I hope to improve my efficiency in Unreal Engine and refine the interaction mechanics for a smoother gameplay experience.
