CHARACTER DESIGN AND WORLD CREATION (CONCEPT ART)

INSTRUCTIONS

Build your world (simple level) with Unreal Engine which follows your art direction and paint over it to further enhance and create uniqueness. You are also to create your character persona based on your proposed world. Define character crisis, strength, backstory (summarized), culture, class, skins etc. This includes creating its props to further support the characters existence. Below are the list of outputs to be produced:
  1. Character Silhouettes - for each character (MC, Minions, Creatures, Boss, etc)
  2. Value Studies
  3. Color Pallettes
  4. Cleanup
  5. Facial Expression Basics
  6. Dynamic pose 3/4

At first, I wanted to design a mechanical creature queen with two humanoid weapons, a little girl, but I had done something similar before. Then, I changed my mind and decided to design a boss, but the boss I created had too many tentacles, which made it difficult to model. In the end, I decided to challenge myself by designing a male character.

FEEDBACK
Week 4: The character looks similar with the original, think about what is unique.

Week 5: Need to start sculpting, draw three character.

REFLECTION

Since the YoRHa unit is an organization with similar uniforms, I needed to design clothing that feels similar yet completely different, which was a challenge for me. I searched online for references of military uniforms and formal wear, and looked at many hairstyles before finally coming up with a design I was happy with. I started with the system's human model, but I felt it was too muscular. Since 1B is supposed to be a young character, I made adjustments to the system model.
