Reflections
Experience
Advanced typography had more freedom compared to typography but it is also more difficult than typography. After experiencing these two modules, I still think I have to work more on it. Through both of these modules, I understood the rules clearly, and I will try my best will design using the knowledge I have gained. Overall, it was a very good experience as I gained a lot of knowledge and it is quite interesting. I think the things I learned from these modules will be very useful in my future work.
Observations
I observed that I still took a lot of time doing task 2B as I didn't understand what should we do at first. I also take a long time adjusting kerning although Mr.Vinod had given us a chart to follow. It is hard to control the space between letter and letter because of the graphical elements in my design. I will put the graphical elements in the same direction if I do similar work in the future. Although I enjoyed Advanced Typography more than Typography, there were more burned-out moments that took more resilience to keep going. Thanks to Mr.Vinod's feedback, I managed to do all my work in the right way.
Findings
I found out more about the process behind branding or collateral work. We need to think a lot while designing a type/logo. I felt satisfied when I printed my shirt using the logo I designed. I also found out how boring, brain-damaging and unforgiving kerning can be. All letters have to be paired together and kerned individually which is the only thing that throws me off from doing Typography.
